BETHESDA, Md. — Montgomery County Police are asking for the public’s help identifying three suspects involved in an attempted strong-arm carjacking of a rideshare driver in Bethesda on May 24.
According to investigators, the female driver picked up two women and a man in the 10300 block of Westlake Drive around 6:24 p.m. and drove them to the Medical Center Metro Station in the 8800 block of Rockville Pike.
Once there, the two female passengers exited the vehicle. While they stood nearby, the male suspect who remained in the back seat began punching the driver and demanding she exit the vehicle.
Fearing for her safety, the victim accelerated and made several sharp turns, which caused the male suspect to flee the vehicle. She then drove to the 8200 block of Wisconsin Avenue and called 911.
Detectives from the Major Crimes Division have released surveillance photos of the suspects and are actively investigating the case.
Anyone with information is urged to contact Montgomery County Police.
