Silent shooter busted after video catches him firing at trio

DOVER, DE — A 26-year-old Felton man is facing multiple charges after police say surveillance footage revealed he fired shots at three people during an unreported shooting in Dover last week.

Jamal Jones was arrested Monday afternoon following an investigation by the Dover Police Department’s Drugs, Vice, and Organized Crime Unit. Detectives were first alerted on Sunday that a shooting had taken place around 10:53 p.m. Friday near South New Street and West Reed Street, though no 911 calls or reports were received at the time.

After reviewing nearby surveillance footage, detectives observed a Black male suspect firing a handgun in the direction of three individuals before fleeing the area. No injuries were reported. Investigators later identified the shooter as Jones and obtained arrest warrants.

Jones was taken into custody around 12:25 p.m. Monday with assistance from Delaware Probation and Parole. He was transported to the Dover Police Department, processed, and later committed to Sussex Correctional Institution on $98,000 cash bail.

He is charged with three counts of first-degree reckless endangering, two counts of possession of a firearm or ammunition by a person prohibited, and one count of possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
