BROOKLYN — A 64-year-old woman has been arrested in connection with a fatal crash that killed a pedestrian in East Flatbush more than two months ago, police said.
Carol Allen was taken into custody at 10:19 a.m. on Friday within the confines of the 67th Precinct and charged with two counts of motor vehicle failure to yield and failure to exercise due care.
The charges stem from a May 14 incident in which Maurette Lafleur, 68, was struck and killed while crossing Rutland Road at the intersection of East 95th Street around 6:03 p.m., according to the NYPD.
Investigators determined that Lafleur was walking from north to south on Rutland Road when she was hit by a 2025 Mercedes Benz GLC 300 turning left onto westbound Rutland Road from East 95th Street. Allen, the driver of the vehicle, remained at the scene following the collision.
Emergency responders transported Lafleur to NYC Health + Hospitals/Kings County, where she was pronounced dead.
The NYPD Highway District’s Collision Investigation Squad led the investigation, which resulted in Allen’s arrest on Friday.
