JACKSON, N.J. — The Northern Ocean County Animal Facility is operating at full capacity as surrenders and stray dogs continue to arrive each day.

The shelter reported that all dogs currently available for adoption or transfer to 501(c)(3) rescues have been evaluated and passed assessments. The animals include both owner surrenders and strays, with some suitable for homes with other pets and others preferring to be the only animal.

Facility staff said they are caring for a mix of young, energetic dogs and older, more relaxed pets, all in need of permanent homes.

The Northern Ocean County Animal Facility, located at 615 Freemont Ave. in Jackson, is open seven days a week from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.

Officials said both adoptions and fostering are urgently needed to help reduce overcrowding.
