Queens burglar made off with nearly $500Kafter smashing into a home through a kitchen window

QUEENS, N.Y. — Nearly half a million dollars in cash and valuables were stolen from a Queens residence earlier this year after a burglar broke in through a rear kitchen window, police said.

The incident occurred on Friday, May 2, 2025, at approximately 9:30 p.m. near Chevy Chase Street and 80th Road. An unidentified individual entered the home by breaking a rear kitchen window and proceeded to remove items from a bedroom closet, including jewelry, various bags, a bank card, and approximately $300,000 in cash, according to the NYPD.

The total estimated value of the stolen property is approximately $492,000. Before fleeing the scene on foot, the suspect also removed a security camera system from the basement. No injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a male with a dark complexion. No further details have been released.

No arrests have been made, and the investigation remains ongoing.
