GLASTONBURY, Conn. — A Connecticut State Police bloodhound successfully located a missing woman with Alzheimer’s on July 22 after she wandered from her home and became stranded in a swampy area, authorities said.
After an initial K-9 search yielded no results, Troop E’s K-9 Gille was deployed and began tracking from the woman’s residence. Gille followed a 2.7-mile trail northwest through wooded paths and powerlines before locating the woman stuck in a swamp near a reservoir. She had a leg laceration and was unable to walk.
Troopers directed Glastonbury Fire Department personnel to the scene, and the woman was safely rescued and taken to a local hospital for treatment.
