MANHATTAN, N.Y. — A 21-year-old man from Johnstown, N.Y., has been arrested in connection with a fatal June shooting in Midtown Manhattan that left a 30-year-old Bronx man dead, police said.
Jamel Williams was taken into custody at 3:33 a.m. Friday within the confines of the Midtown South Precinct and charged with murder and criminal possession of a weapon.
The charges stem from a June 4 shooting in front of 345 West 42nd Street, where officers responding to a 911 call at around 10:45 p.m. found a man with a gunshot wound to the head. The victim, later identified as Marco Reyes, 30, of West 190th Street in the Bronx, was rushed to NYC Health + Hospitals/Bellevue in critical condition and was later pronounced dead.
Williams’ arrest follows a weeks-long investigation led by NYPD detectives. Authorities have not disclosed details about the motive or whether the two men knew each other.
The investigation remains ongoing.
