Fire breaks out in auditorium at Lowell Middle School, quickly contained

WASHINGTON, D.C. — Firefighters responded Monday to a blaze in the auditorium of Lowell Middle School on the 1600 block of Kalmia Rd. NW, according to D.C. Fire and EMS.

Emergency crews arrived to find flames reported in the auditorium area. “Initial reports of a curtin of fire,” D.C. Fire and EMS posted on X. The fire was contained and knocked down shortly after arrival.

Firefighters remained on the scene to check for any extension of the flames into other parts of the building.

There were no immediate reports of injuries or evacuations, and the cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
