Tiny racers take big wins at Wildwoods baby crawl and waddle

Babies crawl and waddle to glory in Wildwoods’ annual contest

THE WILDWOODS, N.J. — Diapers, determination, and a dash to the finish line took center stage Tuesday as babies from across the region competed in the Wildwoods’ beloved annual Baby Waddle and Baby Crawl contests.

The “Wildwoods Loves Waddlers” event, held July 29, featured tots aged 24 months and under racing in two adorable divisions — the Crawl and the Waddle — on a 45-foot-wide, colorful circle as proud parents cheered them on.

Waddle Winner Akira Carter, 21 months, of Vineland, N.J., was the first to reach the circle’s edge on foot. Crawl Winner Arely Joyce Penugonda, 10 months, from Philadelphia, PA, scooted to victory in the crawling division.

Both champions were awarded a family four-pack to Morey’s Amusement Piers and Water Parks.

The lighthearted event remains a cherished Wildwoods tradition and a summer highlight for local families and visitors alike.

Tiny competitors from two states took top honors in this year’s Wildwoods baby race showdown.
