Philly street turns violent as quintuple mass shooting sends four kids to emergency room

PHILADELPHIA — A broad daylight shooting in West Philadelphia left five people injured, including four minors, in what police are calling a quintuple shooting that unfolded around 4:05 p.m. near 56th and Christian Streets in the city’s 18th District.

An 11-year-old girl and a 10-year-old boy were rushed by officers to the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, where both are in stable condition.

Two 16-year-old males were also wounded. One was taken by private vehicle to HUP Cedar and later transferred to Penn Presbyterian Medical Center, where he remains in critical condition. The second teen was taken directly to Penn Presbyterian and is listed in stable condition.

A 32-year-old man suffered a graze wound to the hand and is also in stable condition.

Authorities have not released information regarding a motive, and no arrests have been made. The Philadelphia Police Department’s Shooting Investigation Group is leading the investigation.

The scene near the intersection of 56th and Christian was taped off for hours as detectives combed the area for evidence.

No additional details have been released.
