WASHINGTON, D.C. — A string of smash-and-grab burglaries across several neighborhoods left businesses reeling early Tuesday as suspects hit multiple locations within just over an hour before fleeing in a red SUV.
The break-ins began around 1:05 a.m. in the Unit block of Potomac Avenue, Southeast, followed by two more at about 1:35 a.m. in the 600 block of Pennsylvania Avenue, Southeast. Minutes later, two additional burglaries were reported in the 500 block of 8th Street, Southeast.
Shortly after, two businesses in the 300 block of Morse Street, Northeast, were targeted at approximately 2:00 a.m. and 2:07 a.m. The spree concluded at about 2:19 a.m. in the 3400 block of 8th Street, Northeast.
Surveillance footage captured three suspects and their getaway vehicle, described as a red SUV with tinted windows, black wheels, and no front license plate.
A reward of up to $1,000 is being offered for information leading to the arrest and indictment of those responsible.
