WASHINGTON, D.C. — Two women fled a residence after a 20-year-old victim fought back with a knife during a home invasion last week in the 5000 block of Central Avenue, police said.
The attack happened around 7:30 p.m. on July 24 as the victim was home watching her niece. When she answered a knock at the door, believing it to be her sister, two barefoot women — one wearing a pink bikini and a black ski mask — forced their way inside.
According to police filings, one suspect reportedly apologized, saying “I’m sorry,” before striking the victim and pulling her by the hair. The victim grabbed a knife from a nearby dresser and stabbed one of the suspects, later telling police she believed the wound was to the woman’s stomach.
Both suspects fled before officers arrived. Surveillance video showed one woman wearing a black shirt with a white design and no shoes, and another wearing pink bikini bottoms with a design and a light-colored top.
