Flight restrictions in place ahead of Trump’s weekend visit to New Jersey

BEDMINSTER, N.J. — Federal aviation officials have issued multiple flight restrictions across New Jersey ahead of President Donald Trump’s scheduled visit this weekend, affecting airspace around both Bedminster and East Rutherford.

According to Notices to Air Missions (NOTAMs) released Wednesday, VIP and security-related airspace restrictions will be in effect from Friday, August 1 through Sunday, August 3.

The FAA has designated Bedminster as a VIP flight restriction zone beginning Friday, with notices 5/7347 and 5/7343 issued under the authority of the New York (ZNY) and Washington (ZDC) air traffic control centers. These restrictions are standard procedure for presidential-level security.

A separate security NOTAM, 5/7425, will restrict flights over East Rutherford on Saturday and Sunday. Trump is expected to attend events in both locations during the weekend.

The Federal Aviation Administration routinely restricts civilian air traffic in designated areas during visits by former presidents under U.S. Secret Service coordination. These Temporary Flight Restrictions (TFRs) typically prohibit drone activity, gliders, private aircraft, and other non-authorized air operations within the affected zones.

No further details about Trump’s itinerary have been released.
