Illegal alien charged with stalking in Ocean County

TOMS RIVER — An illegal alien is in custody in Ocean County following multiple charges of stalking and violating court orders, according to inmate records released Thursday.

Julio Avila-Garrido, who was booked on Thursday, is facing two sets of charges under separate case numbers—both related to alleged violations of a restraining order.

Avila-Garrido was charged under New Jersey criminal code 2C:12-10C for stalking in violation of a court order, a third-degree crime. He also faces four separate counts of contempt under code 2C:29-9B for violating the same type of court order, each classified as a fourth-degree offense.

Avila-Garrido also has an active detainer issued by U.S. Immigration, according to the jail database.
