A 43-year-old Florham Park woman has been charged with murder after police discovered a three-year-old girl unresponsive in a bathtub on July 6, authorities announced.
Jeanine Glass was charged on July 22 with first-degree murder and second-degree endangering the welfare of a child following an investigation into the child’s death at a home on Woods End Road. She is currently being held at the Morris County Correctional Facility.
Florham Park Police responded to the residence at approximately 10:41 p.m. on July 6 after a report of an unresponsive adult female. Glass was found unconscious on the first floor with wet clothing and was transported to an area hospital for treatment.
While assisting a family member upstairs to collect information about Glass, officers discovered a three-year-old girl face down and unresponsive in several inches of water in a hallway bathroom bathtub. Emergency personnel began resuscitative efforts and transported the child to a local hospital, where she was pronounced dead. The cause of death remains under review by the Morris County Medical Examiner’s Office.
Glass was charged after being released from medical care and taken into custody. She faces charges under N.J.S.A. 2C:11-3a(1) and (2) for murder, and N.J.S.A. 2C:24-4a(2) for child endangerment.
According to prosecutors, she will remain in custody under New Jersey’s Criminal Justice Reform Act while awaiting court proceedings.
