NEW YORK – If you’re feeling a little more energized from your energy drink this week, there’s a good reason why. You could be drinking vodka seltzer instead.
High Noon has announced a recall of select 12-packs of its Beach Variety vodka seltzer after discovering that some cans labeled as Celcius Astro Vibe Energy Drink were mistakenly filled with alcoholic seltzer.
The affected products include two specific production lots of High Noon Beach Variety Packs (12-pack, 12 oz cans) distributed to retailers in Florida, New York, Ohio, South Carolina, Virginia, and Wisconsin. The recall also applies to mislabeled CELSIUS energy drink cans with silver lids instead of the standard black.
Some product may have also been shipped through secondary channels to retailers in New Jersey.
“This recall is exclusively for the affected High Noon Beach Variety 12-packs with the lot codes listed above,” the company stated. “Consumption of the liquid in these cans will result in unintentional alcohol ingestion.”
The issue was traced to a packaging supplier that inadvertently shipped empty CELSIUS cans to High Noon’s facility, leading to the mislabeling incident. Although the packaging error occurred between July 21 and July 23, no injuries or adverse events have been reported as of now.
The cans involved in the recall carry the following details:
High Noon Beach Variety Pack
- UPC: 085000040065
- Lot codes:
- L CCC 17JL25 14:00 to 23:59
- L CCC 18JL25 00:00 to 03:00
- Notable: Products have silver lids; lot codes appear on the 12-pack exterior
CELSIUS ASTRO VIBE Sparkling Blue Razz Edition
- UPC: 8 89392 00134 1
- Lot codes:
- L CCB 02JL25 2:55 to 3:11
- Notable: Affected cans have a silver lid (instead of the typical black); lot codes lasered on can bottom
Consumers in possession of affected CELSIUS cans or mislabeled High Noon packs are advised not to consume the contents and to dispose of the products. High Noon urges consumers to contact them at consumerrelations@highnoonvodka.com for guidance, including potential refunds.
The FDA posted the company’s announcement as a public service. High Noon emphasized that Beach Variety packs with different lot codes are not part of the recall and remain safe for consumption.
