NEWARK, N.J. — NJ Transit riders faced cancellations and delays Friday morning across multiple lines, with mechanical issues sidelining trains and congestion affecting service into and out of Penn Station New York.

On the Atlantic City Line, train #4617 scheduled to depart Philadelphia 30th Street Station at 9:14 a.m. was canceled due to equipment availability following a mechanical failure. NJ Transit said substitute bus service would be provided.

Rail service across the system also experienced up to 15-minute delays in both directions at Penn Station New York, caused by congestion related to a late train.

On the Northeast Corridor Line, two morning trains were canceled. Train #3930, the 8:06 a.m. departure from Trenton, was called off due to equipment availability stemming from an earlier mechanical issue. NJ Transit advised riders to use train #3932, departing Trenton at 8:26 a.m.

Additionally, train #3716, scheduled to leave Jersey Avenue at 8:19 a.m., was canceled for the same reason. Riders were directed to board train #3718, departing at 8:40 a.m.
