WASHINGTON, D.C. — U.S. Attorney for the District of Columbia Jeanine Pirro claimed in a video statement that a four-time deported felon, with multiple aggravated convictions, is currently employed on Capitol Hill — and that Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) agents have been blocked from detaining him on site.
According to Pirro, the individual has reentered the United States illegally multiple times and is now reportedly working outdoors at the Capitol complex as a gardener or grounds worker.
“We are not allowed to go on Capitol Hill to make an arrest,” Pirro stated. “ICE has been waiting for eight hours to arrest this individual… suddenly he’s not available for an arrest. Now ain’t that swell?”
Pirro said ICE agents were stationed nearby throughout the individual’s shift, but were prevented from apprehending him due to restrictions on enforcement within the Capitol grounds.
“Here we are in the nation’s capital fighting for truth and justice, and they’re making sure that the illegals with criminal backgrounds get to stay,” Pirro said.
The U.S. Attorney did not name the individual or disclose further details about his convictions, prior deportations, or current employment arrangement. ICE has not released a public statement confirming the attempted arrest or providing additional information on the matter.
The claim comes amid heightened scrutiny over immigration enforcement near federal facilities and longstanding policies that limit ICE’s ability to operate within certain sensitive locations.
