A 20-year-old Plainfield man has been arrested in connection with gunfire outside a business along Route 22 West in Watchung that sent patrons scrambling but left no one injured.

Naseem Eure was taken into custody in Plainfield on Monday, nearly three months after the March 17 shooting. Authorities say a vehicle pulled up to an individual walking outside the business around 9:39 p.m., when its passenger door opened and a shot was fired in full view of multiple bystanders. The building sustained damage from the gunfire.

Investigators from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Major Crimes Unit and Watchung Police later identified Eure as the alleged shooter. He was arrested without incident and charged with first-degree attempted murder, second-degree possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, second-degree unlawful possession of a weapon, and third-degree endangering another person.

Eure remains held at the Somerset County Jail pending a court appearance.
