A routine food stop turned into a $50,000 payday for a Prince George’s County truck driver who picked up a winning Maryland Lottery ticket during his delivery route.

The Clinton resident, a regular lottery player, purchased his ticket at a Royal Farms convenience store on July 26 while grabbing lunch. He had chosen numbers for Pick 3 based on his birthday, while allowing Quick Pick selections for Pick 4 and Pick 5.

Despite initial disappointment when his Pick 3 and Pick 4 tickets didn’t win, the driver said he was stunned when his Pick 5 ticket showed all matching numbers. Still unsure, he asked his wife to verify the result using her own app. She confirmed the $50,000 win.

He told Maryland Lottery officials he often stops at that Royal Farms for sandwiches and scratch-offs, making this latest visit an unexpectedly profitable one.
