Lucky hunch leads Baltimore man to $31K lottery win

Man holding dollar bills roll, corruption payment, dirty money, financial fraud

Baltimore, MD – A Baltimore HVAC technician walked into a local convenience store this week with nothing more than a hunch and walked out thousands of dollars richer after a lucky Racetrax wager hit for $31,670.

The longtime city resident, who plays the Maryland Lottery occasionally, said he was driven by a sudden feeling that he should place a bet on the virtual horse-racing game. That instinct led him to Speedy Convenience Store at 7101 Darlington Drive on August 12, where he placed a $6 trifecta box wager.

His three selected horses needed to finish in the top three in any order, and despite early doubts during the race — with one of his picks lagging behind — all three crossed the line just in time. His #12 horse surged in the final stretch, clinching the win and triggering the five-figure payout.

This is not his first big win inspired by instinct. Years earlier, he said a similar feeling led him to purchase a scratch-off ticket that also resulted in a significant prize.

The convenience store where he purchased the winning ticket will receive a $316.70 bonus for selling the winning Racetrax ticket.

The Maryland Lottery’s Racetrax game continues to be a favorite among players for its frequent draws and competitive odds.
