23-year old killed in North Bergen motorcycle hit and run

NORTH BERGEN, NJ – Hudson County Prosecutor Esther Suarez has announced that the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit and the North Bergen Police Department are investigating a hit-and-run accident that took place on May 5, 2023. The victim, identified as Joshua Huayamave, a 23-year-old resident of North Bergen, was fatally struck by a vehicle while riding his motorcycle. The accident occurred at around 9:00 p.m. in the area of Granton and Liberty Avenues in North Bergen.

North Bergen Police Department received a report about a motorcycle lying in the middle of the road with no apparent operator.

When they arrived at the scene, police officers found an injured man, later identified as Huayamave, several blocks away from the motorcycle. Emergency Medical Services rushed him to Palisades Medical Center, where he was pronounced dead around 9:40 p.m.

The vehicle that hit Huayamave fled the scene, and the investigation is ongoing. Anyone with information about the accident is encouraged to contact the Hudson County Regional Collision Investigation Unit or the North Bergen Police Department.
