27-year-old man killed in Northeast DC shooting

WASHINGTON, DC — A deadly shooting in Northeast Washington on Monday evening claimed the life of 27-year-old Landen Mayo, prompting an investigation by police.

Officers from the Sixth District responded to the 4500 block of Quarles Street, Northeast, at approximately 6:38 p.m. after reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, they found Mayo conscious and suffering from gunshot wounds.

DC Fire and EMS transported the victim to a local hospital, where he was later pronounced dead. Investigators have not yet released details regarding a possible motive or suspect in the case.

The Metropolitan Police Department is urging anyone with information about the incident to contact them at (202) 727-9099 or to send anonymous tips via text to 50411. A reward of up to $25,000 is available for information leading to an arrest and conviction.
