39-Year-Old Found Dead After Northeast DC Shooting

NORTHEAST, DC – A tragic shooting incident in Northeast DC has resulted in a homicide investigation after an adult male was found dead on October 8.

At approximately 1:22 p.m., officers from the Fifth District responded to reports of a shooting in the 900 block of 7th Street, Northeast. Upon arrival, they discovered the victim, and despite the efforts of DC Fire and Emergency Medical Services personnel, he was pronounced dead at the scene. The victim has been identified as 39-year-old Delonte Smith of Southwest, DC.

The Metropolitan Police Department is offering a reward of up to $25,000 for information leading to the arrest and conviction of those responsible for homicides in the District of Columbia.
