40-Year-Old Man Killed in Drive-By Shooting in Erie

ERIE, PA – A 40-year-old man was shot and killed on Friday morning at East 17th and French streets.

The incident, which occurred around 11:45 a.m., is being investigated by Erie police as a possible drive-by shooting. The victim, whose identity has not been disclosed, was pronounced dead at UPMC Hamot later that day.

The Erie County Coroner’s Office is scheduled to conduct an autopsy on Monday. If ruled a homicide, this will mark at least the 13th such case in Erie County this year.

Following the shooting, officers secured the area for evidence collection. As of Friday afternoon, no suspects were in custody.
