5-Year-Old Girl Injured During Shooting Inside Perth Amboy Home

PERTH AMBOY, N.J. — A 5-year-old girl was hospitalized after being shot inside a home on Cortlandt Street late Monday night, according to the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office.

Authorities responded to the residence around 11:06 p.m. after receiving reports of gunfire. Upon arrival, officers found the young girl suffering from a gunshot wound, officials said Tuesday.

She was transported to a nearby hospital and is currently in stable condition, according to the prosecutor’s office.

“Based upon the investigation thus far, there is no threat to the community at large,” officials said in a statement released Tuesday.

The incident remains under investigation by the Middlesex County Prosecutor’s Office and the Perth Amboy Police Department.
