$500K Powerball Ticket Purchased at Frederick Wawa

Man holding dollar bills roll, corruption payment, dirty money, financial fraud

Frederick, MD — A Frederick County resident, known as “Super Mom,” won a $500,000 prize after adding the Double Play option to her Powerball ticket. The anonymous winner hit the second-tier prize in the Double Play drawing held on Monday, September 25.

The Western Maryland resident, a loyal Powerball player since 2021, typically plays using personal numbers but opted for a quick-pick set of numbers for this drawing. The lucky numbers earned her the $500,000 prize, the largest Double Play prize won in Maryland this year.

The winner expressed her shock after realizing her good fortune. “I couldn’t breathe, I was hyperventilating and I was in shock. It doesn’t feel real,” she said. She plans to use the winnings to purchase a new home and save for her children’s college education.

The winning ticket was purchased at Wawa, located at 5440 Urbana Pike in Frederick. The retailer received a $1,000 bonus for selling the second-tier Double Play ticket.
