$50K Powerball ticket sold in Long Island City makes one lucky player a big winner

LONG ISLAND CITY, NY — A lucky Powerball player is celebrating a $50,000 win after purchasing a third-prize-winning ticket for the January 8 drawing.

The winning ticket was sold at Greenpoint Expressway, located at 35-15 Greenpoint Avenue in Long Island City. The ticket matched four out of five white ball numbers and the red Power Ball to claim the $50,000 prize.

Powerball drawings are held every Monday, Wednesday, and Saturday at 10:59 p.m., with winning numbers drawn from a field of one to 69 for the white balls and one to 26 for the red Power Ball.

The New York Lottery reminds players to check their tickets carefully and sign the back immediately to secure their winnings.
