67-Year-Old Wilmington Man Arrested in Road Rage Incident Involving Firearm

WILMINGTON, DE – Delaware State Police have arrested Paul Briggs, 67, of Wilmington, Delaware, following a road rage incident where he reportedly displayed a firearm.

The incident occurred on December 15, 2023, around 12:30 p.m. A 52-year-old man from Landenberg, Pennsylvania, reported the encounter, which took place while driving southbound on Barley Mill Road in Greenville. The victim, who had stopped at a red light at Montchanin Road, alleged that Briggs, driving a Honda Accord, pulled up beside him, brandished a handgun, and then quickly drove off. The victim was able to provide the Honda’s registration number to police.

Responding troopers used this information to locate Briggs at his registered address. Briggs, who fit the suspect’s description, cooperated with the police by recounting his version of events and allowing the recovery of the firearm from his residence. He was arrested without incident and transported to Troop 1.

Briggs has been charged with felony aggravated menacing. He was arraigned by Justice of the Peace Court 2 and released on his own recognizance.
