71-Year-Old Man Turns $4 into $41k with Lottery Scratch-Off Win

Pile of money.

TAKOMA PARK, MD – A Takoma Park resident found himself $41,385 richer after an unplanned Racetrax ticket purchase at a Silver Spring store. The 71-year-old usually sticks to scratch-offs but decided to spend an extra $4 he found in his pocket on a Racetrax ticket and a soda.

The win occurred in July at Corner Market & Pharmacy, located at 8309 Grubb Road. “I had some extra cash and decided to buy a Racetrax ticket after a friend recently won big on one,” he said. He chose a Superfecta bet, the same kind that had won his friend a significant prize.

Despite a busy life both professionally and personally, the man took a few weeks to claim his $41,385 prize. He stated that he plans to share his good fortune with his family.

Corner Market & Pharmacy will receive a $413.85 bonus for selling the winning ticket, a bonus amounting to 1% of the prize.
