73-year-old motorcylist killed in manchester crash

Manchester Township NJ – On Thursday, October 14, 2021, at approximately 09:13 pm, members of the Manchester Township Police Department responded to the area of the Route 70 and Pleasant Valley Road for the report of a motorcycle collision with injuries.

Upon arrival, officers located a heavily damaged 2007 Harley Davidson FXD, and the incapacitated driver lying off of the roadway. The investigation revealed that the operator of the motorcycle, 73 year old Lawrence Foca of Manchester, was traveling east on Route 70 when he lost control of the motorcycle and ran off the right portion of the roadway. The motorcycle collided with a street sign, ejecting the driver. The motorcycle continued traveling, overturning several times before colliding into a tree and coming to final rest in the roadway. The motorcyclist was wearing a DOT approved helmet at the time of the collision and sustained a severe leg injury. Mr. Foca was transported to Community Medical Center in Toms River by Manchester EMS where he succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.

Assisting at the scene were the Ocean County Sherriff’s Department Crime Scene Investigation Unit, Whiting Volunteer Fire Department, MONOC Paramedics, and members of the Manchester Emergency Medical Services. The crash remains under investigation by Sergeant Ian Bole and Patrolman Connor Yatauro of the Manchester Township Police Department Traffic Safety section.
