MYRTLE BEACH, S.C. — The Myrtle Beach Police Department has announced the addition of a new officer to its ranks following his recent graduation from the South Carolina Criminal Justice Academy.

Officer Alan Glasser, a Hudson, N.Y., native, has been sworn in to serve the Myrtle Beach community. Glasser brings a diverse background to the force, including a bachelor’s degree in finance from Siena College and years of service in the U.S. Army as a psychological operations specialist and commissioned officer.

Glasser credits his military background for inspiring his transition into law enforcement, citing his passion for service and leadership as the driving forces behind his decision. “I hope to contribute to positive change in the community where I plan to spend the rest of my life,” Glasser said in a statement.

After relocating to Myrtle Beach to be near family, Glasser has set his sights on a long-term career in policing. He expressed an interest in teaching future officers and hopes to become a field training officer or member of the department’s training unit.

The Myrtle Beach Police Department welcomed Glasser with enthusiasm, highlighting his dedication and experience as valuable assets to the team.
