HOWELL TOWNSHIP, NJ – JCP&L reports approximately 1,000 homes in Howell Township are still without power, and crews are expected to complete repairs by midnight tonight for most.
The Howell Police Department reported that a substation was damaged during a tornado on New Prospect Road. That station provides power to the Aldrich Road area of the town.
Township officials said today that any tree debris left curbside will be picked up by the Department of Public Works.
“Approximately 30 to 40 homes were damaged by the tornado and are in various states of disrepair. Spicy Pond Road suffered a direct hit from an EF2 tornado. The building department has been checking locations and determining structural integrity,” the Howell Township Police Department reported today.
Additionally, the Red Cross still has the shelter open for residents.
“Right now, there are ten residents relocated at the shelter, and probably more to follow from the Winding Brook Trailer Park, which sustained moderate damage,” the department said. “OEM will continue to put out any information on our social media outlets and respond to help any residents needing assistance.”
