BALTIMORE, Md. — A man from Adelphi hit it big with a $150,000 Powerball win after a quick-pick ticket featuring his favorite number, 24, matched the Powerball number drawn on June 21.

“I usually go with my own numbers, but I liked this quick pick because it had a 24. I said, ‘Let’s go for it!’” the winner said while claiming his prize at Maryland Lottery headquarters on July 31.

The man matched four of the first five white balls plus the red Powerball — 24 — earning a $50,000 third-tier prize. Because he added the $1 Power Play option, his prize was tripled to $150,000.

He purchased the ticket at the 7-Eleven located at 5411 Kenilworth Avenue.

The winner said he plans to invest most of the money and will treat his wife to a celebratory dinner — once she believes it’s real. “She doesn’t believe it,” he joked while snapping a few photos with his novelty check.
