Akron Police Bust Illegal Gambling Operation on E. Market Street

AKRON, OH—The Akron Police Department made a significant dent in illegal gambling activities last night with the arrest of a 56-year-old woman charged with operating an illegal gambling house. The operation took place around 10:25 p.m. in the 200 block of E. Market Street, following an extensive investigation.

During the raid, police confiscated nearly two dozen gambling machines, two handguns, various electronics, and over $7,000 in cash. A 51-year-old man was also detained during the operation but was later released. With the investigation still underway, authorities anticipate additional arrests and charges.
