Alleged gunman found months after benning road shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. — A man wanted in connection with a daytime shooting on Benning Road last December has been arrested by federal and local authorities.

The incident happened on Monday, December 16 around 1:39 p.m., when a man was shot in the 1500 block of Benning Road NE. He was found conscious and breathing with a gunshot wound and transported to a local hospital for treatment of non-life-threatening injuries.

On Monday, June 16, members of the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force located and arrested 22-year-old Kyre Robinson of Southeast D.C. He has been charged with Assault with a Dangerous Weapon (Gun).

The arrest followed months of investigation and the issuance of a DC Superior Court warrant.

Arrest made in months-old Northeast shooting

Investigators have not released further details about what led to the shooting or whether Robinson and the victim knew each other. The case remains open and under review by the Fifth District.
