Allentown Police Officer and 77-year-old Resident Involved in Collision

ALLENTOWN, PA – On Tuesday, at approximately 5:40 pm, a patrol officer from the Allentown Police Department was responding to a service call in a marked police vehicle. While traveling southbound on 31st St SW, a white Ford pickup truck entered the officer’s path from the South Mountain Shopping Center parking lot exit on Capital St, causing a collision between the two vehicles.

As a result of the collision, both the patrol officer and the 77-year-old male driver of the pickup truck sustained minor injuries. Both parties received immediate medical attention, with the police officer being treated at a local hospital and later released.

The driver of the pickup truck was attended to on-site by Allentown EMS and declined additional medical care.

Both vehicles were unoccupied apart from the drivers, and the incident is currently under further investigation.
