ALLENTOWN, PA – District Attorney Jim Martin of Lehigh County has announced a significant development in a child homicide case dating back to 2007.

Delilah Reader, born on November 18, 1983, entered a no-contest plea to Third Degree Murder on August 15. On Thursday she received a sentence of 8 to 16 years in state prison, handed down by the Honorable Robert L. Steinberg.

The case’s background reveals that on December 6, 2007, Reader was the only caregiver present for Angelina Tomas, a 10-month-old infant.

That day, Tomas suffered a traumatic brain injury inflicted by Reader, which led to severe developmental issues, cognitive impairments, physical disabilities, and a seizure disorder.

This disorder would ultimately cause Tomas’ death in 2015.
