Anne Arundel County Police Department Warns of Roadside Scam

ANNE ARUNDEL COUNTY, MD – It’s human nature to want to stop and help somebody stranded along the highway, but Anne Arundel County Police are warning residents of the threat of being scammed, or worse robbed or taken advantage of.

The department reported an incident where a woman stopped to help a stranded motorist and became a victim.

“We received information from a citizen that was preyed upon when she stopped to help what she thought was a stranded motorist,” the department said. “The suspect took advantage of her kindness and goodwill by misleading and defrauding her under the premise of needing help.”
