Anti-Gun Social Media Influencer David Hogg Named Vice Chairman of DNC

David Hogg elected DNC vice chair, becoming first Gen Z leader in role

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — David Hogg was elected vice chair of the Democratic National Committee (DNC) on Saturday, marking a historic milestone as the first member of Generation Z to hold the position.

The Florida Democratic Party praised Hogg’s election, highlighting his journey from surviving the 2018 Parkland school shooting to becoming a prominent gun violence prevention advocate. Florida Democratic Party Chair Nikki Fried called his leadership “remarkable” and emphasized his potential to reshape Democratic outreach to young voters.

“David’s unique life experiences and skills will transform the way Democrats engage with young voters and elevate how we run campaigns,” Fried said in a statement.

Hogg, 24, has been a vocal activist for gun control and youth civic engagement, co-founding the group March for Our Lives in the wake of the mass shooting at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School.

His election signals the DNC’s strategic push to energize young voters ahead of the 2026 midterm elections.
