NEW YORK – New York Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is under investigation for possibly violating federal election law.
It has been revealed that Alexandria Ocasio Cortez is under investigation by the Federal Election Commission (FEC) for potentially violating campaign finance laws.
The FEC has opened an investigation into whether Ocasio Cortez’s campaign illegally accepted corporate donations. This is not the first time that Ocasio Cortez has come under fire for her campaign finances.
In 2016, she was accused of violating campaign finance laws by using funds from her congressional campaign to pay for personal expenses. The FEC ultimately found no evidence of wrongdoing. Now, the FEC is investigating whether Ocasio Cortez’s campaign illegally accepted corporate donations. Corporate donations are prohibited under federal election law.
If the FEC finds that Ocasio Cortez’s campaign did accept corporate donations, she could be fined or even face jail time. The FEC has not commented on the ongoing investigation. Ocasio Cortez has also not commented on the matter.
