A man was robbed at gunpoint outside his workplace before two suspects allegedly stole his car, crashed it minutes later and fled on foot, investigators said.
SWISSVALE, Pa. — Two 19-year-olds have been charged in connection with an armed carjacking in Swissvale that ended with a crash and a foot chase, according to Allegheny County police.
The incident happened on June 6 in the 7500 block of Dickson Street.
Investigators said an adult man was sitting in his vehicle after leaving work when a male suspect approached with a firearm.
Police said the suspect robbed the victim of several belongings and forced him to walk to another area of the parking lot.
A female suspect then entered the parking lot, and the two suspects allegedly got into the victim’s vehicle and drove away.
Authorities said the stolen vehicle crashed a short time later at the intersection of South Braddock Avenue and Roslyn Street.
Both suspects then fled the scene on foot.
Through evidence recovered at the crash scene, detectives identified the suspects as 19-year-old Evan Jackson and 19-year-old Kiara Williams.
Jackson faces multiple charges, including robbery, robbery of a motor vehicle, carrying a firearm without a license and persons not to possess a firearm.
Williams is charged with criminal conspiracy and accidents involving damage to an attended vehicle or property.
Police did not release additional details about the victim’s injuries or whether the suspects have been taken into custody.
The charges are allegations, and both defendants are presumed innocent unless proven guilty in court.
