Armed Home Invasion Reported in Newark

Newark, NJ- Newark Public Safety officials are seeking the public’s assistance to identify a suspect involved in a home invasion that took place on November 16. During the incident, the suspect pointed a gun at a victim.

The invasion occurred around 5:45 p.m. after the suspect and an accomplice tried to steal an electric bike from a home on Elm Street. The bike owners pursued the suspects and managed to reclaim the bicycle after a confrontation. While the owners reported the theft at the Franklin Street precinct, the suspects returned to the home and forced their way inside, targeting a basement tenant and demanding their phone before fleeing.

The primary suspect is described as a tall, slender, light-skinned male, wearing a black hoodie and dark pants. The second suspect has a dark complexion, brown hair, medium build, and wore a blue and white jacket with multi-colored pants.
