Arrest Made in D.C. Murder

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch has announced the arrest of 19-year-old Derrico Johnson in connection with the 2022 homicide of 32-year-old Clayton Marshall of Southwest, D.C.

Johnson, a resident of Southeast, D.C., was already detained at the DC Jail when he was charged on Wednesday. He faces a First Degree Murder While Armed charge, based on a DC Superior Court arrest warrant.

The incident dates back to April 12, 2022, around 12:22 p.m., when Seventh District officers were called to the 2200 block of Savannah Street, Southeast, following reports of a shooting. Upon arrival, they discovered Marshall with gunshot wounds. He was rushed to a local hospital but succumbed to his injuries. A second male victim, also suffering from gunshot wounds, was found at a different local hospital receiving treatment.

The arrest marks a significant development in a case that has spanned over a year.
