Arrest Made in Bensalem Homicide Investigation

Bensalem, PA – On Saturday at 5:48 p.m., Bensalem Township Police responded to a 9-1-1 call reporting a shooting at Bucks Meadows Apartments, 3131 Knights Road. Upon arrival, officers found 40-year-old Jose Miguel Tenorio-Ruiz lying near the rear parking lot with a gunshot wound to the torso. Officers administered life-saving measures until EMS arrived. Tenorio-Ruiz was transported to Jefferson Torresdale Hospital, where he was pronounced dead shortly after.

The suspect, identified as Abel Mendoza-Ramirez, 31, fled the scene before police arrived. Witnesses reported that Mendoza-Ramirez and Tenorio-Ruiz had a minor physical altercation before the shooting. Mendoza-Ramirez retrieved a semi-automatic handgun from his vehicle, approached Tenorio-Ruiz, and after a verbal exchange, fired two rounds into the ground. When Tenorio-Ruiz attempted to disarm him, Mendoza-Ramirez shot him in the torso.

The suspect fled in a Ford Van, which was subsequently spotted by a Newton Township Police Officer at 600 Newtown Yardley Road. Mendoza-Ramirez was taken into custody without incident.

Abel Mendoza-Ramirez faces charges of Criminal Homicide, First-Degree Murder, Third-Degree Murder, and Possession of an Instrument of Crime. He was arraigned by District Justice Joseph Falcone and is being held at Bucks County Correctional Facility without bail.
