Arrest Made in Deadly DUI Crash in Towson

TOWSON, MD – An arrest has been made following a fatal pedestrian accident on Providence Road in Towson.

Around 4:20 p.m. on Saturday, officers from the Baltimore County Police Department were dispatched to the 800 block of Providence Road after reports of a vehicular collision involving a pedestrian. Upon arrival, officers found that 24-year-old Eliza Grover had been hit by a Ford F250 while she was on the sidewalk. Tragically, Grover was declared dead at the location.

The Ford F250’s driver, identified as 57-year-old Richard W. Mays, remained at the scene. Subsequent investigations led to his arrest on multiple charges, including attempting to operate a vehicle not fitted with an ignition interlock, driving while impaired by alcohol, and driving under the influence of alcohol.

Currently, Mays is detained at the Baltimore County Detention Center and has been denied bond.

The Baltimore County Crash Team is actively probing into the incident, striving to piece together the events that culminated in this unfortunate accident.
