Arrest Made in Drunken Valley Manor Stabbing Incident

MONESSEN, PA – Robert Varner, a 60-year-old man from Monessen, has been arrested and charged with attempted criminal homicide, among other charges, according to Westmoreland County District Attorney Nicole W. Ziccarelli.

The arrest followed a stabbing incident that occurred on Thursday, July 28.

Monessen Police were called to Valley Manor due to a report of a stabbing incident. Upon their arrival, they found a man who had been stabbed five times. The victim’s sister was rendering aid to him and identified Varner, who was present at the scene.

Both the victim and Varner were intoxicated at the time of the incident.

According to the police, Varner stabbed the victim twice in the upper back and three times in the chest following a verbal altercation.

The victim was airlifted to UPMC Presbyterian Hospital and is in stable condition. Currently, Varner is being held at the Westmoreland County Prison without bail. All charges are accusations and the accused is presumed innocent until proven guilty.
