Arrest Made in Fatal D.C. Thanksgiving Shooting

WASHINGTON, D.C. – In a significant development, detectives from the D.C. Metro Police Department’s Homicide Branch have made an arrest in connection with a homicide that occurred over the Thanksgiving weekend in Northeast D.C.

The incident took place on the evening of Saturday, November 25th. Around 9:10 p.m., officers were dispatched to the 1300 block of Florida Avenue, Northeast, following reports of a shooting. They found 34-year-old Daniel Lamont Adams being attended to by DC Fire and EMS. Despite efforts to save him, Adams later succumbed to his injuries at a local hospital.

Further investigation revealed that the shooting had actually occurred on the 1700 block of Benning Road, Northeast. The breakthrough in the case came when, pursuant to a DC Superior Court arrest warrant, the Capital Area Regional Fugitive Task Force apprehended 40-year-old Andre Hicks from Capitol Heights, Maryland, on Thursday. Hicks now faces charges of First Degree Murder While Armed.
