BALTIMORE, MD — Jewel Crowder, 40, has been arrested for the first-degree murder of off-duty Howard County Deputy Ryan Alexander Demby, 23. The homicide occurred on September 29, 2023, in the 1100 block of South Charles Street. Crowder was taken into custody the same day without incident.
Deputy Demby was fatally shot during a verbal altercation at a bar after a fight broke out between two patrons.
The Howard County Sheriff’s Office expressed gratitude towards the Baltimore Police Department for their diligent work in the case.
