Arrest made in stabbing at new jersey brewery

COLLINGSWOOD, N.J. — A borough man has been arrested and charged in connection with a stabbing at a Collingswood brewery over the weekend, authorities announced.

Tahaa Elmogahzy, 27, was charged on Monday with first-degree attempted murder for allegedly stabbing a 30-year-old Mount Laurel man. He also faces charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose, and unlawful possession of a weapon.

The incident occurred on Saturday, February 22, at approximately 9:09 p.m. at the Raccoon Taproom on Powell Lane.

The company issued the following statement:

Last night, a tragic and senseless act of violence occurred at the Raccoon Taproom in Collingswood, NJ. A male patron was attacked and injured by an unknown male who was present for a brief time before committing this random act. Our hearts go out to the victim, and we pray for his full recovery.

We want to extend our deepest gratitude to our staff for their quick response in contacting emergency services, the patrons who provided valuable testimony, and the dedicated law enforcement officers working tirelessly on this case. We hope for swift justice.

Police responded to a report of a disorderly person and learned that a suspect had stabbed a patron in an unprovoked attack before fleeing on foot. The victim was transported to Cooper University Hospital, where he remains in critical but stable condition.

A joint investigation by the Camden County Prosecutor’s Office and Collingswood Police Department led to Elmogahzy being identified as the suspect. He was arrested in Collingswood by the U.S. Marshals Service New York/New Jersey Regional Fugitive Task Force and taken to the Camden County Correctional Facility pending a detention hearing.
